Famous Sports Trophies
An Unrivalled Trophy Heritage
Many of the greatest names in sport have lifted a Garrard cup in their moment of victory. Discover the famous designs that have made the House the leading destination for bespoke trophy-making for centuries.
The America’s Cup
Since the creation of the America’s Cup by Garrard more than 170 years ago, this iconic trophy has remained in our care.
The world’s oldest perpetual international sporting trophy, pre-dating the modern Olympic Games, the America’s Cup was originally designed as a piece of silverware and takes the form of an ornate claret jug with a scrolling handle.
Standing at 1.1m high and weighing over 14kg, this classic piece of Victorian design captures perfectly the prestige of this sailing event, which is considered the pinnacle of yacht racing.
Ascot Gold Cup
As Official Trophies and Silverware Supplier, our relationship with Royal Ascot dates back to the creation of the very first Gold Cup in 1842.
Presented by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the winner is allowed to keep the trophy in perpetuity, which means that at Garrard we create a new Gold Cup each year, to a design approved by HM The Queen.
As tastes have changed over time, the design has become more classically elegant, with the clean lines and striking silhouette of the 2021 Gold Cup enhanced with historical details from past Royal Ascot trophies.
ICC Cricket World Cup
In 1999, Garrard designed the first-ever perpetual trophy for the ICC Cricket World Cup.
Crafted in sterling silver with 18 carat gold gilding, the handsome trophy is an elegant play on the symbols that have come to represent the sport.
Standing at 60cm high and weighing approximately 11kg, the design features a golden globe elevated by three silver columns. The globe was chosen to signify a cricket ball, while the columns symbolise the three fundamentals of the sport – batting, bowling and fielding – and take the form of cricket stumps.
The British Masters Trophy
When the British Masters returned to the European Tour in 2015, the organisers commissioned Garrard to create a bespoke trophy that reflected the legacy of the sport of golf in the UK.
Classically British in style, with elegant handles that span the full length of the 17-inch cup, our master silversmiths spent three months crafting the British Masters Trophy in our London workshop.
Displayed on a lacquered plinth, the sterling silver cup has quickly become an iconic feature of the tournament.
The Saudi Cup
Created in 2019 and standing at over 1m tall, the Saudi Cup is a magnificent new perpetual trophy for the most valuable horse race in the world.
His Royal Highness Prince Bandar commissioned Garrard to create the Saudi Cup for the inaugural event in February 2020. Presented on three tiers, the grandeur of the design reflects the prestige of this newest addition to the international racing calendar.
Entirely gilded in 22 carat yellow gold and decorated around the cup with red and green enamel, the engraving, chasing and applied decoration is a modern Garrard twist on traditional Saudi Arabian patterns.
